typeface early sans serif
early sans serif is the 1st typeface i created on my own. it got its name from my former internship mentor at greenpoint, brooklyn in new york, where i spent 3 months in summer 2011 in a letterpress shop. apart from my internship, i attended a class in typeface design at the sva in manhattan. together with my printing skills, i printed these cards of my 1st own hairline font on a vandercook universal III press.
i tried to create a typeface without serifs and by ignorating what typedesigners call "contrast". that means to work with a geometric base and create what is technically right, but not what looks right. as you can see, this case is despaired, because if you want your typeface to look nice, you better trust your eyes!
